Practical Ways to Save Costs on Office Supplies

Even if you do not have problems with buying office supplies and office furniture, it still pays to implement measure that will cut down your costs for office supplies. Not only would you be able to set aside a tidy sum to spend when you want to spend it or in case of emergencies, you would be exercising a modicum of consideration for the environment. After all, when you use your office supplies wisely, you would also be saving the exhaustible resources of the planet we all live in.

It is not difficult at all to save on costs of office supplies. You just need to be conscientious of what you buy and how you use it. Here are a few practical tips on how you can save on office supplies.

  1. Recycle. You do not need to throw away everything you have already used. There are probably other uses for them. For instance, those printout forms you made may be cut into quarters and turned into notepaper for memos and reminders. Your empty printer ink cartridges may be refilled or returned to your supplier when you make a new order. Your used envelopes can be relabelled and reutilised.

  1. Print only when you need to. Do you really need to have that memo printed out? It may be possible simply to send it through email to all concerned. It may be best to store that presentation you made in a disk rather than print it out for filing. Also, you can save on ink by printing only on draft mode if the document is not going to a client.

  1. Buy in bulk. Did you know that you can get discounts from suppliers or retailers if you buy your office supplies in bulk? But even without discounts, buying in bulk is still a lot cheaper than buying items individually.

  1. Buy Energy Star equipment. Computers and office equipment consume electricity and use up energy. Computers and equipment that meet the Energy Star standards, however, are made so that they will go on sleep mode if they are not used. They also consume a lot less energy than others.

It makes more sense to save on office supplies and equipment. Not only would you generate extra cash in the long run, but it would also show your concern for the environment.
